Congreso Futuro en tu comuna
Maker fairs and robotics workshops in high schools and hospitals, four times a year. The event at the Dr. Luis Calvo Mackenna Children's Hospital got national coverage.
Congreso Futuro en tu comuna opened its 2024 season in the patient services hall of the Dr. Luis Calvo Mackenna Children's Hospital. Outpatient children took part in a science fair with three stations: Astronomy from the Millennium Institute of Astrophysics MAS, the Mathematics Festival of the Chilean Mathematical Society, and Ideo Maker's robotics stand.
That day is one of many. Ideo Maker takes part in Congreso Futuro en tu comuna year after year, with four events per season in high schools and hospitals. Each one combines a maker fair with a Bicho-bot workshop, the MDF robot that is also in this catalog.
Taking a maker activity to a hospital changes the constraints. Participants come from outpatient care, timing cannot be controlled and the space is not a classroom. The activity has to work in short sessions, come in and out without a heavy setup, and hold up with whatever fits on a table.
This kind of activity warms everyone's heart: our children, their families, staff and the whole community. The commitment is for it to last over time.
